Singer Kang Daniel "I keep in touch with the Wanna One members... I'm open to a reunion anytime"

Singer Kang Daniel mentioned the possibility of a reunion with Wanna One.

 

Kang Daniel is returning with a new album after a year and three months. With the release of his fifth mini-album, ‘ACT,’ which carries the meaning of a new beginning, Kang Daniel is breaking his long hiatus and making a comeback in the music industry. On the afternoon of the 23rd, ahead of the album release, he shared various stories related to his comeback during an interview held at the COEX Atrium in Seoul.

 

Regarding this comeback, Kang Daniel expressed, "It feels like the third act of my life is opening." He explained, "If I were to express my life as a play, the first act began when I started dancing, and the second act, as everyone knows, was when I participated in Mnet's ‘Produce 101 Season 2’ (hereafter ‘Produce’), while the third act seems to have just begun."

 

Comparing his journey so far to the acts of a play, Kang Daniel reflected, "I don't know how many acts my life has. However, looking back at the path I've walked, I feel that the first act started unintentionally. In fact, my journey into dancing wasn't by my own will. It feels like a strange fate that a student who didn't study and didn't listen ended up being forced into a b-boy crew by a new homeroom teacher. That was an unintentional beginning." He added, "I still keep in touch with my former homeroom teacher."

 

Kang Daniel described the time he spent as part of Wanna One, which began with ‘Produce 101,’ as the "second act." He recalled, "I received love that I never imagined or hoped for, and I felt that through the new experiences I had during ‘Produce 101.’"

 

Defining the third act as the path he is currently walking, Kang Daniel stated, "The days that have passed are precious. I think I became successful too suddenly. I often feel that I've been lucky. Even now, there are many times when I feel bewildered. Although I have always been grateful, sometimes it was so sudden that I couldn't grasp the extent of my gratitude." He expressed, "These days, I feel grateful once again. It is because of those times that I am who I am today, and those experiences have become the foundation that allows me to create the music I want to make now."

 

Kang Daniel also candidly spoke about Wanna One. When asked if he keeps in touch with the members, he replied, "Of course, we keep in touch. Recently, I appeared on a YouTube channel run by Daehwi because we naturally got in touch."

 

Regarding the possibility of a reunion with Wanna One members, he said, "I mentioned this back then, but it is indeed not easy physically. However, we did gather for a performance at the ‘MAMA’ awards in the past. I think I am open to such possibilities anytime."

 

Kang Daniel received immense love during his time with Wanna One, to the extent that he was called the "Nation's Center." He admitted that he still doesn't fully understand why fans love him, but he acknowledged that he is where he is today thanks to his fans, known as "Flover" (Kang Daniel's fandom name), and expressed his desire to remain a supportive artist for them in the future.

 

Kang Daniel remarked, "I think I might look like someone you want to support. They say the most unfortunate person is someone who is so lucky in life that they are anxious about when it will end, and I think I might have been that way. During my time with Wanna One, I was so lucky that I couldn't enjoy or appreciate it. I thought about when the interest and love might fade away."

 

He candidly shared, "Perhaps now I might not be a fan's ultimate bias anymore. Even if I am not their favorite, I want to remain an artist who continues to receive support. And thankfully, because of the support from the fans who have loved me until now, I feel like I will never lose my ambition in music."
