Halla Mountain in Jeju is preparing to welcome winter guests by donning a white coat.

This morning (27th), the first snow of this autumn fell on Halla Mountain, creating a scene where autumn and winter seem to coexist.

With the sharply dropped temperatures, frost flowers, also known as "sangkode," have bloomed abundantly.

According to the Jeju Regional Meteorological Administration, a heavy snow advisory is currently in effect for the mountainous areas of Jeju.

From this morning through the night, heavy snowfall of 1 to 3 cm per hour is expected in mountainous areas above 1,100 meters in elevation.

The anticipated snowfall by tomorrow (28th) is expected to be between 5 and 15 cm.

Due to the temperature difference, there may also be instances of hail and raindrops falling in some areas.

A strong wind advisory has been issued for all of Jeju, with winds exceeding 25 m/s expected in the mountainous regions.

Currently, all hiking trails, including Eorimok, Yeongsil, Seongpanak, Eoseungsaengak, Donnaeko, Seonggukam, and Gwaneumsa, are completely closed due to adverse weather conditions.

A meteorological official stated, "Snow is accumulating and freezing on mountain roads such as 1100 Road and 5·16 Road, creating icy conditions," and advised, "Please check flight information in advance as there may be disruptions to airport connections."

Meanwhile, this year's first snow on Halla Mountain fell about two weeks later than last year's (November 12). In previous years, the first snow was observed on November 30, 2022; November 8, 2021; November 29, 2020; and November 19, 2019.
