The Fox and the Cat

 

 

 

A cat walking in the forest met a fox.

 

 

"Hello, fox?"

 

"Oh, it's a cat. Where are you going?"

 

"I came to play in the forest because I was bored."

 

"What? There are many scary animals in this forest.

What are you going to do if you meet a scary animal while walking around like that?"

 

"Scary animals?"

 

 

The cat opened its eyes in surprise and looked in all directions.

 

 

"Where? Where?"

 

 

Then the fox laughed.

 

 

"Ha ha. You're a very coward.

There are no scary animals around now, so you don't have to be so scared."

 

 

Then the cat sighed deeply.

 

 

“Wow, I’m surprised. My heart is still pounding from how surprised I was.”

 

 

The fox asked confidently.

 

 

"Cat. Do you know how to run away when you meet a scary animal?"

 

“Well, I know at least one.”

 

"That's why it's easy to be eaten by scary animals."

 

“How many ways does the fox know how to escape?”

 

"I have so many ways that I can't even count with my fingers.

So no matter how scary an animal is, it can't catch me."

 

 

It was then.

 

Suddenly, a lion as big as a house attacked the cat and the fox.

 

The cat quickly climbed up the tree.

 

That was one way the cat knew.

 

However, the fox, who had countless ways to escape, panicked and didn't know what to do, and was eaten by the lion.

 

There are times when one sure way is better than many.

 

 

 

 

여우와 고양이

 

 

숲속을 거닐던 고양이가 여우를 만났습니다.

 

"안녕하세요. 여우님?"

"오, 고양이로구나. 어디를 가는 길이니?"

"심심해서 숲속에 놀러 왔어요."

"뭐라고? 이 숲속에는 무서운 동물들이 많아.

그렇게 다니다 무서운 동물이라도 만나면 어쩌려고 그러니?"

"무서운 동물이요?"

 

고양이는 놀라서 눈을 동그랗게 뜨고 사방을 휘둘러보았습니다.

 

"어디요? 어디요?"

 

그러자 여우가 깔깔 웃어댔습니다.

 

"하하. 너는 무척 겁쟁이로구나.

지금은 주변에 무서운 동물이 없으니까 그렇게 겁먹을 필요 없어."

 

고양이는 그제야 깊은 한숨을 푹 내쉬었습니다.

 

"에휴, 깜짝이야. 얼마나 놀랐는지 아직도 가슴이 콩닥콩닥 뛰어요."

 

여우가 으스대며 물었습니다.

 

"고양이야. 혹시 무서운 동물을 만났을 때 도망가는 방법을 알고 있니?"

"글쎄요. 한 개 정도는 알고 있어요."

"그래서야 무서운 동물에게 잡아먹히기 십상이지."

"여우님은 도망가는 방법을 얼마나 많이 알고 있는데요?"

"난 방법이 너무 많아서 손가락으로는 셀 수도 없단다.

그래서 아무리 무서운 동물이라도 나를 잡을 수가 없지."

 

그때였습니다.

갑자기 집채만한 사자가 고양이와 여우에게 달려들었습니다.

고양이는 재빨리 나무 위로 올라갔습니다.

그것이 고양이가 알고 있는 한 가지 방법이었습니다.

그러나 도망치는 방법이 수없이 많다던 여우는 어쩔 줄 모르고 당황하다가 사자에게 잡아먹히고 말았습니다.

수많은 방법보다 확실한 한 가지 방법이 나을 때도 있답니다.
