Father's worry

 

 

There was a father living with two daughters in a village.

 

Every time he met people, he showed off his daughters.

 

Also, the neighbors were jealous of how much he loved their daughters.

 

As the years passed, His daughters became old enough to get married. His father asked.

 

 

"What kind of man would you marry, my first daughter?"

 

"Father, I want to marry a farmer."

 

 

He also asked second daughter.

 

 

"What kind of man would you marry, my second daughter??

 

"Father, I want to marry a potter."

 

 

The father visited the first daughter after the daughters got married.

 

 

"first daughter, how is life?"

 

 

Then the first daughter said with a worried face.

 

 

"My husband and I are extremely happy.

However, I am worried that it will ruin the farming because it has not rained these days."

 

"Don't worry too much. I'll pray to God to rain."

 

 

The father also visited his second daughter.

 

 

"Second daughter, why don't you live?"

 

"My husband and I are very happy. But the bowl made of soil has to be dried, and I'm afraid it'll rain."

 

"Don't worry too much. I will pray to God that it will not rain."

 

 

But when the father returned home, he fell ill.

 

It was because he was worried about his second daughter when it rained, and he was worried about his first daughter when it didn't rain.

 

 

 

 

아버지의 걱정

 

 

어느 마을에 두 딸과 살고 있는 아버지가 있었습니다.

아버지는 사람들을 만날 때마다 딸들을 자랑했습니다.

또 그 딸들을 어찌나 사랑하는지 이웃들이 샘을 낼 정도였습니다.

세월이 흘러 딸들이 결혼을 할 나이가 되었습니다. 아버지가 물었습니다.

 

"큰애야, 너는 어떤 남자와 결혼하겠니?"

"아버지, 저는 농사를 짓는 사람과 결혼하고 싶어요"

 

작은딸에게도 물었습니다.

 

"작은애야, 너는 어떤 남자와 결혼하겠니??

"아버지, 저는 용기를 굽는 사람과 결혼하고 싶어요"

 

아버지는 딸들이 결혼한후 하루는 큰딸을 찾아갔습니다.

 

"큰애야, 사는게 좀 어떠니?"

 

그러자 큰딸이 근심이 가득한 얼굴로 말했습니다.

 

"저와 제 신랑은 더없이 행복해요.  다만, 요즘 비가 오지 않아서 농사를 망칠까봐 걱정이에요."

"너무 걱정 마라. 내가 하느님께 비를 내려 달라고 빌어줄 테니까."

 

아버지는 작은딸에게도 찾아갔습니다.

 

"작은애야. 사는 게 좀 어떠니?"

"저와 제 신랑은 더없이 행복해요. 다만, 흙으로 빚어 놓은 그릇이 말라야 하는데 비가 올까 봐 걱정이에요."

"너무 걱정 마라. 내가 하느님께 비가 오지 않게 해 달라고 빌어줄 테니까."

 

그러나 집으로 돌아온 아버지는 그만 자리에 앓아눕고 말았습니다.

비가 오면 작은딸이 걱정이고, 비가 안 오면 큰딸이 걱정이었기 때문이었습니다.
